Thanks for your reply. What I have is part family story and part fact. Fact: He is buried as B. S. Bobo in Fayette County, Alabama and may have lived some in Lamar County, Alabama. The headstone list his birth as March 24, 1845 and death as June 27, 1922. His wife's name was Adaline.

I believe he was in the 56th Alabama and may have joined up in Mississippi.
I believe there was a B. S. Bobo and a Barrum S. Bobo.

Family story: I seem to have this very vague memory of overhearing the "old folks" talking when I was a young child and hearing my grandmother saying something like "mama applied for a pension but papa had deserted".

This seems to make matters worse. Any help will be appreciated.
