I have read that Zach was killed at Watkins Farm on Saturday March 25, 1865. His younger cousin John Josiah Hawkins Daniel, (my great grandfather) was listed as missing. I have read other threads that he was taken prisoner and sent to Point Lookout, MD. I have not seen him listed. Also any information on Zach's death at Watkins farm. From old postings I have seen he was the only officer killed that day. I am curious as to the circumstances and detail of the battle as it appears the battle flag was captured that day.
