William and Cicero McNeal

I have a McNeal family with 2 brothers, one named William and one named Cicero.

WILLIAM MCNEAL Private in the 28th ALABAMA INFANTRY CONFEDERATE REGIMENT INFANTRY CO. L. William McNeal enlisted in Jasper, Walker County, AL April 1, 1862. He was captured at Missionary Ridge Nov. 25, 1863. He was sent to Rock Island POW Camp, IL December 9, 1863. He took the Oath of Allegiance (not to bear arms against the Union Army) April 21, 1864 at the age of 22. We do not know if he was a "Galvanized Yankee." Family history says he did not return home after he captured.

CICERO C. MCNEAL - Private 6th Arkanas Infantry Co. D - Enl 17 Jul 1861 at Arkadelphia, AR Died 30 Jun 1862 in hospital at Macon, MS.

If they lived in Arkadelphia, Walker County, ALABAMA in 1860 census, would one of the brothers have enlisted in Jasper, Walker County AL and one brother enlisted in Arkadelpha, AR? I would like to know more about this Cicero McNeal.

Thank you.
Elaine
