I read your 2010 inquiry about the 44th Alabama. I am a new student to the actions and details of the 44th, and my hope is that you have found sources of information about the unit's history. I determined two months ago that my Great-Great Granduncle (sp?), Paul Kyzer of Bibb county, died on July 2nd during the assault on, and somewhere in the vicinity of, Devil's Den. I also learned that the 44th occupied the far right at the sunken road at Antietam, and left with very heavy casualties. I would be very grateful to anyone who has uncovered details about the 44th, its personnel and history. Thanks, Ron Hardcastle
