The man you referenced is Daniel P. White, listed on the census as a resident of the southern half of Randolph County AL. He enlisted at Wedowee AL, May 18, 1864. After being listed as present for duty, August 31, 1864, there is no further record of him. Another D. P. White of the Cahaba Valley District, eastern Jefferson County, seems to have been about the same age. He enlisted in Co. "K", 30th Alabama Regiment, Mar. 10, 1862, serving as a cook and teamster. Aftr being paid at Griffin GA, Sept. 8, 1864, there is no further record of him. He appears on the 1870 census of Jefferson County AL. Many years after the war his widow Nancy C. White applied for a pension in his name.
