The spelling of the company name as given by company officers is "Hillabee Rifles". This also matches the name of the stream, Hillabee Creek. Also called “Talladega Hillabee Rifles”, this company enlisted at Talladega AL, July 17, 1861, entering state service July 29, 1861, at Lineville AL. The "Hillabee Rifles" joined the regiment October 21, 1861, replacing Captain Rowe’s disbanded company. A muster roll dated September 6, 1861, Camp Johnston AL, included all those entering Confederate service.

Captain John T. Bell, mortally wounded at Gaines Mill, Virginia, June 27, 1862.
Captain Elias Folk, wounded at Frazier’s Farm, Virginia, June 30, 1862. Promoted Captain [November 13,] 1862, to rank June 27, 1862. Wounded at Petersburg, Virginia, July 31, 1864; died the following day.

Both men appear on the 1860 census of northern Talladega County AL.
