Re: George W Brown, Greene County MS

George W. Brown, enlisted at Mobile AL, Feb. 24, 1862, Co. "B", 32nd Alabama Regiment, Capt. John Drew. Served as orderly to Col. Harry Maury until he left the regiment. Present on roll, Feb. 1864; took oath of allegiance to the United States, Chattanooga TN, Aug. 22, 1864. Resident of Greene County MS, height 6 ft 1 in, dark hair, dark complexion, blue eyes. No later record.

Since Brown was out of military service from that time forward, there probably wouldn't be a record of death. According to the family story, he died on the way home, which must have occured shortly after the war ended in the summer of 1865.
