Re: confederate regiments at Little Round Top

Meant to say that it was the 4th Texas, 5th Texas, and 4th Alabama that were mixed together in front of Little Round Top. During the advance, the Texans had conformed to the movements of Law's Brigade on their right, with the 5th Texas on the right of Robertson's brigade being closest to the 4th Alabama which occupied the left of Law's brigade at that time (before the shift of the 44th and 48th Alabama to the left), and these two regiments (5th Texas and 4th Alabama) overlapped at times, being in a bit of competition to get to the enemy first. When they arrived in front of Little Round Top, Val Giles of the 4th Texas recalled seeing Captain Cussons of the 4th Alabama standing near the front line (see previous posts for more information on the colorful Cussons). The Texans made three separate charges. After the first, when they had pulled back 200 yards to reform, General Law, who by then was in command of the division, having replaced Hood, rode up and ordered them in again, according to Mark Hubert of Company K, 5th Texas. Law had probably just come from Seminary Ridge, where he had been urging support from McLaws' division, after having been recalled from his Alabama brigade to take over command from Hood, who was wounded early in the action by enemy artillery.
