Re: Civil War Prisoner War Records 1861-65

Rick and Alan,

Thank you so much for your help on this. Today I called the Rock Island Museum but they did not have an answer for this 300J. I am corresponding with someone who might have the answer and I will surely let you know in case someone else on this list comes across this same problem. If all else fails, a family member who lives in the Wash. DC area will go to the Natl. Archives for me and see if they can come up with an answer. I just would like to know...was he sent West, joined the Navy or what? I believe this will complete my Civil War search for him. What happened after the War, I do not know. I do know he did not return to his wife and child in AL (even thought family history says he went home, found his wife had remarried and left - but I cannot find any evidence this is true) and I have checked 1870 records for the entire USA and still cannot identify him or his family. Thank you, again. Elaine
