The Whitworth was a true sniper rifle if it had its scope mounted and using its hexagonal ammo. The rilfe had a hexagonal twist bore and the hex bullet was a close fit. The bullet was seated by twisting it down the bore onto the powder charge. This was too slow for the average Infantryman to do in battle. These hex bullets are extremely rare, they used to bring $50-$100 depending on condition (dropped or fired). They also had non-hex ammo for the Whitworth, it was easier to load and fire but still very rare.
