Where did you find the headstone and which one of my kin folks was it?

In a recent discussion with a Michigan member of the Sons of Union Veterans, he described me as an SOB! (Son of Both a Confederate Veteran and a Union Veteran)

I started life as a true Confederate, but after many years of research, I may have to change my mind. I am a direct descendent of more Confederate cavalry troopers but Union Army enlistments in my Alabama family were about double the number of Confederate enlistments. I guess that's to be expected, my mother's family came from Winston County, also known as "The Free State of
Winston" after they seceded from the Confederate State of Alabama.
