Maybe someone can shead some light on comunication towards the end of the war. I've come across several pension applications, were the person was listed as deserter, but in looking through their military papers, they were listed as being in a hospital either sick or wounded during the same time of the desersion. Eventually, they or their widow got the pension.

Was comunication so bad, that someone, somewhere didn't know or remember that these men were in the hospital somewhere?
