Need some help, went into the Carpenter- Davis Cemetery today in Colbert Co. Al. with J.C. Holt a member of the family, the story I got was that
the father hitched up a wagon a went to get both his boys in the Atlanta area, brought them back here for burial in the family cemetery. I have some
questions.
tombstone #1 Sherrod M. Davidson b/ 4 May 1839 Lawrence Co. Al. d/ 22 July 1862 Atlanta Ga area
tombstone reads Fighting for Southern Rights, Pvt.Sherrod was in the 27th Alabama Inf. Co. I
can someone look this up for me because I don't see the 27th in Atlanta till 1863
now this may be an error with Moran a tombstone cutter in Tuscumbia, Al. because his brothers stone was cut at the same time it appears
also by Moran
tombstone #2 Joseph E. Davidson b/ 28 July 1842 Lawrence Co. Alabama d/ 16 Dec. 1863 I don't find a Joseph E in the 27th I find a Joseph D.
can anyone help me with a service record on Joseph E.
death imfo on both soldiers
Thanks
