Thanks very much for the update. In a round about way, that's how I finaly determined my GG grandfather was a Confederate Vet. The problem was, there were about 25 differant soldiers with similar name.

BUT, in looking through pension papers, other people had to sign to verify their signature. In my ancestors case, his daughter signed for verification. She lived 1884-1978, and I actually knew her. Amazing. Thanks again.
