I did get the rolls backwards. The May-June 1863 is the one that says sick-hospital vicksburg. the month march -april is the one that says bounty due; commutation since ....
so they did not have any battles in may or June that could have caused the sickness? when they said "sick" did sick usually mean sick and not wounded or did they use the terms interchangeably?
i found his brother Joel A. mcDaniel's pension request online and Joel says Joel was wounded near Dalton, Georgia, presumably Resaca.
