This is one of the few if not the only case in which a command was disbanded, officers and men sent to other commands, and later reconstituted. Of course that happened with Blount's Alabama Battalion after Shiloh. This would be an unusual history if you cover the period in which members served with other commands, and the later period in which the 58th Alabama was consolidated with the 32nd Alabama Regiment.
