William Denham was in Company C ("Mountain Rangers") of the 48th. The Supplement to the Official Records indicates that Company C lost one killed, four wounded and two missing on the second day (2 July 1863) at Gettysburg. Privates H. G. Carr and J. G. Ellison were among the wounded, while 1st Corporal D. Barton was captured. The company was led during that battle by Captain James M. Bedford; Second Lieutenant W. J. G. Barton was also present.
