Re: 48th AL at Gettysburg
Kathy, this M.G. Wiggonton/Wiginton was totally unfamiliar to me. My ancestor Ancel Rowe Wigington April 17, 1815 Pendleton Dist., S.C. came to Pickens Co. GA where his son Major Maxwell "Mack" Wigington was born January 08, 1849. His son and my grand father was George Robert Wigington b. October 16, 1875. He never left Georgia. Do you know what the G. stands for in Mathew's name? I think there are as many ways to spell their last name as there are men in their family. Obviously whoever was filling out documents spelled it however they chose as in the voters/oath document where it is spelled 2 ways in one document.
