Lynne --

The garrison of Fort Morgan included four companies of the 1st Alabama Artillery Battalion, two companies of the 1st Tennessee Artillery and one company of the 21st Alabama Regiment. No one named Holt appears on the rolls of any company assigned to Fort Morgan. An enlisted man named Holt, Co E, 21st Alabama Regt, was among the garrison of Fort Gaines, which surrendered without a fight. He was sent to prison and later released on exchange.

Describing casualties at Fort Morgan as "unusually small", General Page mentioned losses at Fort Morgan as one killed and three wounded.

I've also read each of the reports by Confederate naval officers which name sailors who died during the action of August 5, 1864. No Holt there, either.

Where did you find this name?
