The letter must have been written by Ida Mae Gurganus (1897 - 1962) , grandaughter of Lt Patton. She died West Palm Beach FL. Patton's daughter Laura Ann Patton married Henry L Gurganus and had nine children while living near Mobile AL.

Some time ago Fred Ray made an excellent post about Lt Patton, a native of Maine.
