John Calvin McDiarmid of New Company D was appointed Color Corporal some time after the Battle of Gettysburg. He was wounded at the Battle of Cedar Creek, October 19, 1864. He died on October 23, 1900. He was buried at Hatchett Creek, Clay County, Alabama. He maintained a diary for part of the war.

I wonder if his diary may be included in this holding at the U. S. Army Military History Institute, Carlisle Barracks, Pa?
