L.H. Sasser, Co. A, 6th Ala. Inf. Mustered into service at Corinth, MS. on 04 June 1861 with old Co. K, 6th Ala. Inf. Wounded 31 May 1862 gunshot wound left ankle...diagnosis: "ankylosis (an abnormal adhesion of joint causing rigidity of movement) and paralysis of exterior tendons" Treated at Gen. Hospital 3rd Alabama Hometown recorded as Millgrove, Ala. On wounded furlough since 01 Jun 1862. Furloughed home at Columbia, Ala. for 60 days for disability 10 Aug. 1862. Home on wounded furlough 31 Dec 1862. 31 Dec 1863 to 30 Jun 1864. 22 Jun 1863...Medical Director ruling, "never fit for duty".
Pvt. L.H. Sasser received his final pay and left the service.

There is a L.M. Sasser with Co. G, 15th Ala. Inf. Enlisted 15 Aug. 1862, Dale County. Present all muster rolls until May/June 1864...recorded as AWOL. MR July/Aug 1864, present. Register of Arrival of deserted rebels dated 09 Feb 1865. Register of Rebel Deserters who have taken the Oath of Allegiance disposed by the Army of Potomoc dated 10 Feb. 1865. Oath of Amnesty at City PointRecorded on Register of Refugees or Rebel Deserters, Provost Marshall, Washington, DC. dated 15 Feb 1865. "received from AOP (Army of Potomoc). Transferred to Jacksonville, Fla."., Va. 12 Feb 1865. Place of Residence: Henry County, Ala. Dark complexion, Dark hair, blue eyes, 5' 5" tall.
