Chiles, Thomas Jefferson, New Co. G, Private. He enlisted in Dale County, Alabama, on August 30, 1862. He was captured at Locust Grove, Virginia, on May 5, 1864, and was sent to Belle Plains, Virginia, on May 18, 1864. He was transferred to Elmira, New York, on August 15, 1864, arriving on August 17, 1864. On October 11, 1864, he was transferred for exchange, however, he died on November 11, 1864, at Port Royal, South Carolina. He was interred in Section 53 of the Beaufort, South Carolina National Cemetery, grave number 6387.
