Chiles, John Frank, New Co. G, 1st Corporal. He was enlisted in Company B on April 15, 1861, at Livingston, Alabama, by John Dent. He appears on a Register of General Hospital, Orange Court House, Virginia, where he was admitted on March 26, 1862, with “Remittent Fever”. He was again admitted to the same hospital on October 14, 1863, suffering from Lumbago. He was returned to duty on November 23, 1863. He was wounded at the Battle of Fredericksburg on December 13, 1862. On May 5, 1864, he was captured at Spotsylvania Court House, Virginia, and was sent to Belle Plains, Virginia, on May 18, 1864. He was transferred to Elmira, New York, on August 15, 1864, arriving there on August 17, 1864. He was paroled on February 9, 1865, and sent to James River for exchange. He appears on a Register of General Hospital, Howard’s Grove, Richmond, Virginia, where he was received February 21, 1865.
