Maj. John N. Slaughter 34th AL Inf

Request assistance.

According to Maj. Slaughter's Service Record he is admitted to Gen. Hospital #3 (Greensboro) on March 11, 1865, however no reason is listed. The hospital location is probably Goldsborough for that time period in March, but that's another discussion.

I am trying to determine if his admittance was combat related from the Battle of Wise's Forks (March 8-10), or non-combat related. I know he was wounded slightly in the arm earlier in Dec 64 at Nashville, according to Memorial Record of Alabama, Vol. 1, pp 739-741. So there may have been some lingering pain causing him to seek medical attention.

He is back in the field and in command of the 34th AL by March 31, 1865 according to the OR, VOL. 47, Pt. 3 p. 734.

I could find reference to a pension record which may explain the March 11 admittance to GH #3.

thank you in advance.
