J. B. Rawls, 2nd Corporal, Capt. Gantt's Company, Byrd's Regiment, Alabama Volunteers,* enlisted April 2, 1862 at Andalusia, Ala. by Hiram Gantt for 90 days, no other records

* This company was also known as Captain Gantt's Company, 4th Regiment Alabama Volunteer Militia

Record of Events, Gantt's Company

April 2 to June 25, 1862, stationed at Sluppen Press, Mobile, Ala.
This Regt. is composed of Ninety days men who have armed & equipped themselves. Have been employed in the City of Mobile mainly as a police force and have had but little opportunity for improvement in discipline, instructions, etc.
