Re: Hardie's Reserve Calvary

Thanks Allen.. I have his actual original parol you Are talking about. His name is actually William mccurdy. He was born in 1843 aprox. I have his application for pension for my grandmother . He is buried in wilsonville,al cemetery . Where he lived. His grave is marked with a 42ala military marker. He fought at shilo and was wounded in the hand . Later he was captured and paroled in Vicksburg . I got this info from his application for pension. After that he showed up with the Hardee's parole. I think he lived around the Oxford al area. My grandmother told me when I was young that he would go fight in the day time at silver run and come home at night to sleep. That was what was handed down through the tails . They Also said he had a large bag of gold coins he would bring out and let them play with. I only wish i knew what happen to those. Since he was a poor dirt farmer. Makes me wonder about that tail . I was born and raised in Talladega , Al. With all this said I don't know how someone in so many places . I can't find any record of his service with the 42nd. Or hardies except the parole I have. Thanks for you help!!
