Thank you so much for the information. I joined fold3, so now I am knee deep in cool information, but my heavens, it's overwhelming. I'm thinking I may have combined two N. Sanders into one person... the one thing that seems exactly right is that our N. Sanders would be the one who enlisted in Jasper. Based on my records, Moses Sanders was the brother of my Nathaniel Sanders... I hadn't noticed that he was out there too. Thanks for the mention! I will read all that with a fresh eye! I read that muster card for N. Sanders, where he was absent for September and October 1863-- it says "on picket at Bambridge Ferry. Order of General Lee(returned)" What might that mean? And does the fact that there are two different enlistment places/times for N. Sanders and N.T. Sanders mean that they are not the same person? I didn't know if they did new cards when they folded the regiments together, the 13th and 15th into the 56th, or something like that. Haha, stop laughing, I know I don't know what I'm doing... but I'm getting addicted anyway. In fact, yesterday I created a 6 generation genealogy fan chart for my teenaged sons (they are placed in the middle of the chart, which took 12 sheets of paper taped together into a big square to create; the ancestors span out from the center, encircling my boys in generational rings) Once I looked at the huge chart, I realized that on the outer two rings we have many direct ancestors who were Confederate soldiers, probably about a dozen, most from Alabama... my new project will be to mark the soldiers, and label each ancestor's war experience out beside them on the chart. Until I saw it laid out that way I had no idea how many Confederate soldiers I came from! So you guys may not have seen the last of me. Be gentle. :)
Thanks again, so much, for the help!!
