Mr Martin, thank you so much for this information. Some where, in the back of my mind , my G Grandfather was mentioned as being one of the dead. I regret that I lost all of my records that I worked so hard on.
If my memories serves me right he was leading a charge out of the trees at:l0;30 AM and was hit in the chest by a miniball. He was buried on the field where he fell. He was buried three times, the last time being at the Confederate Circle, Evergreen Cemetery, Murfreesboro, Tn. It has been told around the family that by the time they got the news of his death and they traveled from Russellville, Al to Tn they could not claim his body, but were able to get his personal papers, sword, etc. Does that sound right to you?
