I am trying to locate the service records for Joab Bennett, Pvt Company C, 3rd Alabama Cavalry Regiment. I found his name on Find a Grave buried at Point Lookout Confederate Cemetery with no death date. I also am trying to find out if his father Alsey Fuller Bennett is the A. F. Bennett also in Company C, 3rd Alabama Cavalry. They were both originally born in York, South Carolina and moved to Wilcox Alabama after 1850. Joab was born in 1846. (Was it normal for a 15 year old to go to war?) Alsey was born about 1820-1824. Would love to know how Joab died, if he was a POW, if his father was with him?
