Re: Major Crow, Sharpshooter Battalion

May be the Jim Crow mentioned by Edmond DeWitt Patterson (Company D, 9th Alabama) in his (published) journal. Sample entry from 30 June 1863, Fayetteville, Pennsylvania: " ... [last] night Jim Crow, Dick Hobbs and I went out about two miles into the country to get supper, and had a most magnificent time. The young lady was Union but called herself a 'copperhead.' I would not mind being bitten by her a few times." Entry, 2 July 1863, Gettysburg: "As soon as our regiment got into position, our company was ordered forward as skirmishers, Cannon commanding the 1st platoon, I the second, and Crow in command of the whole."
