Alan, one confusing thing is that the Dec. 1, 1864 Dept. of Ala., Miss., & E. La. return lists separately the 3rd Battalion, 3rd Regiment, 4th Battalion, and 4th Regiment [Alabama Reserves], which would seem to indicates these were distinct units. Is it possible that the 4th Battalion was not the same as the 4th Regiment? Henry
