Re: 4th Regiment Alabama Reserves Co "G"

Hi Mr. Martin,

You had put the following in a previous update:

"Benj. Toomer, Lt. Col., 89th Alabama Vol. Militia, paid July 10, 1862 for the period March 28, 1862 to April 14, 1862, 18 days, $102.00, no further records

Note, it appears that this militia unit saw no service except for that period for which they were paid, as above

M311: Compiled Service Records of Confederate Soldiers Who Served in Organizations from the State of Alabama"

The M311. Do you mean microfilm roll 311? If so, how do I get a printout of that roll?

I filled out the form online on the Alabama Archives site and one of the questions I asked for them to investigate was Benj. Toomer and if he had served briefly in the 89th. They apparently did not look at any microfilm. In fact, I'm disappointed in the fact that what they sent me I already found on Fold3 and Ancestry. Rather than chewing their a** out, is there a more constructive way of asking for what I need? I really am not a veteran in asking and dealing with archives.

your help or anyone reading this message would be greatly appreciated.

thank you,
john
