Re: Alabama Cavalry @ Towaliga, GA, 11/17/1864

Greg --

The other commands mentioned are Miller's 9th Mississippi Cavalry, Inge's 10th Mississippi Cavalry and Perrin's 11th Mississippi Cavalry, all part of Ferguson's Cavalry Brigade. Ferguson's Brigade was one of three brigades in Jackson's Cavalry Division, which operated independently of Wheeler's Division during the Atlanta Campaign. Ferguson's Brigade remained in Georgia after Jackson's followed Hood's army west in September 1864, again, operating independently of Wheeler.

I would be surprised if specific documentation existed about this skirmish. With regarding to the information from CMH Vol. VII, there's no reason I can see that it should be trusted or regarded as authentic.
