Steger and Clay

Dr. J.C.W. Steger, of Gurley, Ala., is one of the well known army surgeons who got in last night. Dr. Steger came as an escort to Mrs. Virginia Clay Clopton, president of the Alabama Daughters of the Confederacy. Mrs. Clopton is well known among the Daughters throughout the South. Dr. Steger was under Forrest. He will read a paper this morning at the meeting of the Association of Medical Officers. "I am greatly surprised," said Dr. Steger, "to find so many in Louisville on my arrival. I did not think that the city would fill up before tomorrow or next day. The truth of the business is I did not expect to see such an attendance."

Louisville was hosting the 1905 Confederate reunion.
