In Response To: Re: 36th ala. vol. ()

The records for the 36th Alabama Infantry contain one soldier by the name William Blair. This file contains 19 individual cards. The one and only Company F muster roll found in these records containing his name, is that held June 30, 1862. This file contains two cards for events following Blair Srs. death. I would assume therefore that Jr. enlisted sometime after June, 1862 and have split the information found for Sr. & Jr. as follows:

William Blair, Private, Company F, 36th Regiment Alabama Infantry, enlisted April 10, 1862 at Monroeville for 3 years, recorded present at the June 30, 1862 muster, captured at Missionary Ridge November 23, 1863, sent to Louisville, Ky. December 7 from where he was transferred next day to Rock Island, Ill. prison, died of pneumonia February 4, 1864, buried: Rock Island Prison Cemetery, gravesite: 364

…..

William Blair Jr., Private, Company F, 36th Regiment Alabama Infantry, receipted for an issue of clothing April 1864, paroled at Meridian, Miss. May 10, 1865, resident of Butler Co., Ala.
