Re: 37th Alabama INF Private Information

Records maintained by SCV Camp 1610 do not show Nickolas Paul Whisenhunt as having served with the 37th Ala., He is recorded as a member of the Monroe County Militia having joined with the company formed at McKinley Post Office that operated north of Flat Creek. N.P. Whisenhunt married Susan Bryant, a member of a prominent family near McKinley P.O. (now known as Wainwright) where the family cemetery was established. The Whisenhunt parents lived in Beat 8 and later the siblings scattered. His mother is buried at Red Hills Cemetery in Monroe northwest of Scotland where the 17th Ala. was raised. N.P. Whisenhunt removed to Polk County, TX. Despite a marker indicating service in the 37th, SCV 1610 cannot document the service. His siblings served with Co. E, 23rd Ala.
