Thank-you for that information, Mr. Martin. The correct spelling of the name is "Moorer", with an "r"
at the end.

My GGrandfather was captured, as you mentioned, at Battles Bridge, NC. Ironically (at least for me),
I learned after moving to the Raleigh, NC area in 2001, that the site where he was captured is only
about 20 miles (as the crow flies) from my current home. Since I am Alabama-born and Tennessee-
raised, I thought it very coincidental that I wind up so close to that location. The bridge that My GGF
and his cohorts blew up does not exist, but I have found an old soil survey that shows where it once
stood.
