Fred - This is probably information you already know, but I'll pass it on anyhow. Knowing of the below link may help other researchers.

Company B was actually an artillery company assigned to the 51st.

I had collateral Bryant ancestors in Company D, including one who was captured at Shelbyville and eventually died while imprisoned at Fort Delaware.

Ohio State University has preserved the excellent work done by the late Ken Jones on Alabama units. Here is a recap of Morgan's Brigade, including the 51st:
