Postal for the war, captured at Lookout Mt., Tenn. November 24, 1863, forwarded to Provost Marshall at Louisville, Ky. November 28, transferred to Rock Island Barracks, died May 27, 1864, Meningitis, buried in prison cemetery grave no. 1173

* This company subsequently became Company E, 24th Regiment Mississippi Infantry

Joseph Mills, 23, Private, Capt. Henry Roberts’ Company, 24th Regiment Mississippi Infantry, enlisted August 22, 1861 in Green County by H. Roberts for the war, captured at Lookout Mt., Tenn. November 24, 1863, sent to Military Prison, Louisville, Ky., transferred to Rock Island Barracks, Ill. prison December 3, died January 8, 1864 of Pneumonia, buried South of Prison Barracks, grave no. 146

* This company subsequently became company A, 24th Regiment Mississippi Infantry

January 17, 1865, transferred to Point Lookout, Md. prison for exchange, February 21, 1865, admitted Receiving & Wayside Hospital (Confederate), Richmond, Va. March 9, 1865, transferred to Howard’s Grove hospital next day, no further records

Note, The last Company K muster roll found in the records is that for the bi-monthly muster of Jan/Feb, 1864 which could mean he enlisted subsequently
