Thank you for sharing you story, I only know that my Grandfather Henry Bradford Thompson was a young man after the war. He was he son of Leonidas Sherrod Thompson. Co.B. His family like so many lost everything, so he decided to move to Arkansas and homestead 160 acer in Pope CO. near Russellville. I do not have any stories to pass on. I have read the history of the 51st Alabama Cav. and how they fought through the war, but no personal stories like the one you shared.
