Re: Samuel Coleman, 6th Alabama Cavalry

There is only one card in the CMSR of S.T. Coleman, private, (New) Company A, (Old) Company G, 6th Alabama Cavalry. It is from the company muster roll dated from April 1 to October 31, 1863. It states that he enlisted April 1, 1863, at China Grove, Alabama. It states that he is present and due pay from enlistment. It also states under remarks, "Pay for horse forty cents per day $85.60". This muster roll is the only one for the company on file, and the record of events states that the company was organized on April 1, and that, as of Oct. 31, had not been in an engagement. They had been sent to North Mississippi for about a week and then to Pollard, Alabama, and from there to Camp Withers "doing picket duty on the Gulf Coast."
