Guys - there may be some substance to this. The 1870 census of Rutherford County, Tenn, shows a 30 year old Laura Bell living with her mother and two older unmarried sisters. All three of the sisters are listed as seamstresses. A cursory look did not find a marriage record of Laura Bell to a Hudgins, but on 4 July 1886, a Lara M B Hudgins married Henry C Sanders in Franklin County. Haven't delved into this deep enough to verify if these are the same person or not, but at least it looks like she may have existed. Perhaps she tried, but was unsuccessful in landing a contract to make flags.
