Re: 7th alabama cavalry april 2, 1864

It all depends on what the paper is calling the 7th Alabama Cavalry. My gr-gr-uncle, Robert A. McClellan was in the 7th/9th Alabama Cavalry. My records show:

April 15, 1863: The 7th Alabama Cavalry was organized by consolidating the 14th Alabama Cavalry Partisan Rangers Battalion (which had originally been consolidated with Lt. Col. James C. Malone’s 12th Alabama Cavalry Battalion) with the 19th Alabama Cavalry Battalion.
Â
January 19, 1865: 9th Alabama Cavalry formed out of the 7th Alabama Cavalry. Wheeler’s Corps, Allen’s Division, Hagan’s Brigade, Capt. S.P. Dobbs commanding.
January 31, 1865: under Capt. S.P. Dobbs, Hagan’s Brigade, Wheeler’s Corps.
February 8, 1865: on road to Augusta, Georgia.
March 10, 1865: action at Monroe’s Crossroads, South Carolina
March 19-21, 1865: Battle of Bentonville, North Carolina
April 5, 1865: Johnston- after Battle of Bentonville, he moved his army to Smithfield, just northwest of Goldsboro.
When Wheeler decided to remain with President Davis, he disbanded his men and told them to make their way home.

I would say the action was at Bentonville.
