Yes your family name is an old established Lawrence County name, along with the Fortenberries, Taylors, Barnetts, Raneys, Wassons etc. my wife has transcribed notes and information regarding the home guard in Lawrence county. There is a place just southwest of Black Rock traveling toward Black rock from Smithville, that is still knowns as Craigs. i am curious as to authority to bear arms, and if any uniform was required. We have not found anything in the court records so far.
