Service records of my ancestor A.P. Bennett (Company K, 3rd Arkansas) show him in a Richmond hospital for "Vln. Sclopt."

I know that he didn't die from it and the record doesn't elaborate beyond that abbreviation.

Any thoughts on what that could be? Venereal?
