Without more information I wouldn't want to guess why you were directed to this site, or whether Riley Barnes enlisted in a military unit from either side during the Civil War. I'm not at all familar with the family or stories you mentioned.

This site is for people interested in soldiers and military commands organized in Arkansas during the Civil War. Most questions and messages posted on this board are related to that topic. Some are about veterans who moved to Arkansas after the war, and many mention family members of soldiers.
