Company "C" of Baxter's Cavalry Battalion organized at Wayland, Tenn., Dec. 20, 1862. Members disbanded about June 6, 1863, at Huntsville, Ala. This was a Tennessee company. Capt. Powell and perhaps others (including C. B. Jones) had been members of Nixon's 48th Tennessee Regiment and Voorhies' 48th Tennessee Regiment.
