In conjuction with the fighting at Prarie d'anne I believe there was also some scrimishing around the settlments close to present day Prescott known as "Moscow". Some union soldiers that were killed in the fighting had markers placed for them in ,I believe the Moscow cemetery.
Prescott itself came into existance only after the war and was named for W.H. Prescott who had been Capt. of company "F" 24 Ark. CSA later company "D" Hardy's CSA Inf. William Prescott surveyed the orginal township of Prescott after the war and was also county judge 1874-1880.
