I believe I can help you here. I live in Hagarville, Ark which is about 12 miles south of Ft. Douglas and the old iron bridge which has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Ft Douglas was named for Major George Douglas. According to lore he was murdered in the area in or about 1879. He is buried in the Ft Douglas Cemetery, south of the bridge. I could probably furnish a picture of the bridge if you need one.
